History of Myers ParkMove here for great quality of life.

Myers Park was carved out of the 1,220-acre cotton farm of John Springs Myers in 1911. Designed by John Nolen and implemented by Harvard-educated landscape architect Earl Sumner Draper, the neighborhood was conceived as a planned garden suburb with winding, tree-lined roads that respected the natural topography rather than enforcing a rigid grid.

Central to Nolen’s master plan was Queens Road, a dual-lane boulevard designed to accommodate Charlotte’s electric trolley line while creating a grand entrance through the neighborhood. Draper oversaw the planting of thousands of willow oaks along the avenues, creating the famous green canopy that defines Myers Park today.

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Charlotte’s prominent civic leaders and textile executives built grand Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, and Georgian mansions along Queens Road and Hermitage Road. Today, Myers Park remains one of North Carolina’s most prestigious and architecturally significant residential enclaves.
